Date: Sun, 19 May 1996 06:09:25 -0700 From: "John Y. Liu" <johnliu@earthlink.net> Subject: Privately Rent LR In AU/NZ For Feb-Mar. 1997? Hello from California! I am looking for a "spare" LR in AU/NZ. My wife, baby, and I will be touring Australia and New Zealand in February and March of next year. We looked into the cost of conventionally renting a vehicle for two months and it is prohibitive (not to mention the cost for a 4x4.) I am looking into the cost of shipping my LR (SIIA 109) there and back but I think it will be prohibitive too. So I am wondering if anyone on this list has, or knows someone who has, a Land-Rover that could possibly be rented to a fellow LRO for those two months. My qualifications are: experienced LRO, have kept my own truck in very good shape, careful driver, (and not likely to drive anywhere silly whilst toting my wife and 6-month-old daughter and with no companion vehicle), will bring own tools, and willing to pay a fair rental price as well as needed insurance and maintenance, etc. The ideal vehicle would be a reliable LWB SW (but a SWB SW or really any LR with an enclosed cargo area would be a possibility); a set of seatbelts to secure a child seat is necessary (but I'd pay for installation). The truck would be used to drive around to the usual tourist sights, as well as somewhat off the beaten path in search of trout (my passion for fly fishing equaling that for LR's) but no worse than a decent dirt track. Is this a possibility, anyone? And I should say that, should there be a lack of any available LRs, I'd be willing to privately rent some other make of 4x4 too, although I've only had experience driving and working on LRs. ------------------------------[ <- Message 3 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960520 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]
