The one I'm buying has rather shot tyres, and will probably stumble over the line road worthy wise, so I need new tyres. Does anyone have any ideas as to a good tyre to fit ? Usage would be mainly road (high speed), but I don't want to get bogged as soon as I get off the bitumen, otherwise I'd take my Renault ! (We do a lot of bushwalking, so most trips will be drive, drive , drive (on bitumen), drive along track, stop, walk, etc..., especially... arrive back at car after 3 days solid rain, try and get Renault out :-(, try and get LR out :-)...) Anyway, any suggestions appreciated. Also if you know of a good place to get tyres in Melb, that'd be good too. Thanks, Doug. PS: sorry if this end up posted twice ! ------------------------------[ <- Message 2 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 961021 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

Subject: Polybushes for a 110
Hi again all.
I am now the owner (I'll tell you if I'm a proud owner in a month, if
nothings fallen off !) of a 1985 LR 110 V8. (according to the VIN, made in
England too. I thought the 110's were made here, but according to a magazine
article I was reading in the Brooklands (gold portfolio ?) book, the initial
110's were imported. Maybe I've got one of those ? It was made in 5/85)
It now needs a bit of work here and there, like the new tyres mentioned before.
To that end most of the suspension bushes are US, so I need to replace
them. I have had it recommended to me that I use polyurethane bushes, rather
than the OEM rubber ones. Anybody think this is a bad idea ?
Anybody have any thoughts on the best brand, or grade or whatever of
polybushes ?
Also, how noisy are other peoples 110's ? Mine is a bit noisy at the back
above ~60k. I hope its the rather lumpy Cooper MS tyre at the back right,
and the rather worn Kumho's elewhere giving me tyre roar.
Note these are all 10.5x15 at the moment.
Now a quick ad: (please let me know if you feel this is inappropriate (sp?)
in this list)
For sale:
Five wheels : 15in diameter
size 7JJ15
white, steel, patterned
somewhat similar in look to Sunraysia wheels, but
different
4 Kumho Powerguard (5-10% tread !) and 1 Cooper MS
(seems OK ?, 50%) tyres
(Buy the wheels, you get worn tyres for free !)
off a LR 110, but I assume they fit anything made
by LR except the 101
in Melbourne (Elwood), available next week probably.
Best offer !
Will consider swap of other relevant LR gear etc.
Thanks,
Doug.
