Would someone please repost the mailer address and commands? I've lost
my copy and judging from some of the posts, so have some other readers,
too. Thanks.

Sounds like a leak I have on my '88 Range Rover. The culprit is a
blocked / ineffective sun roof channel drain tube. The drain tubes are
located on either side behind the rear windows and run down between the
body panel and interior upholstery. It's possible for leaves and general
crud to build up over the tube openings. Even if they're not blocked,
too much water at once can wash right over and get into the rear corners
where it may run through the headliner, come out the speaker holes or
seep between the outer and inner walls, reaching the floor pads.

You have to remove the headliner to get at the drains. But I've learned
if you avoid certain situations you can minimize the leaking. Automatic
car washes are sure trouble if you drive up or park on a slight grade
with the front higher before the water has a chance to escape. Also,
parking in a heavy rainstorm with the nose higher than the rear can
cause the same problem. On level ground or encountering rain while
driving doesn't seem to cause a problem. The moral is the sun roof
gaskets let in a lot more water than you think and it has to find a way
out, so don't rush it. And point the nose downhill if possible.

Also, as far as your power door actuators go, on my '88 model only the
driver's door actuates the other locks automatically.

Subject: D90 Service Report

Just got my truck back from Berndt LR in Milwaukee, had a list of small
things to be done. For fun, I'll let you know how it went:

1. Fault Code #48 repeatedly on, after resets. Erratic Idle Variations.
Engine Floods occaisonally at morning starts. Plugs Fouled after only
15K miles. Slight hesitation near 2800rpm at light accels.

Dealer replace the PROM in my computer, swapping OUT the California emissions
chip for one supposedly designed for midwest USA. The story I got was that
ALL defenders came into this country ready for California emissions, and once
they settled down into their respective home territories, the PROMs got
swapped out at normal dealr servicing. Service writer claimed the cold start
is leaned out on the new chip, that doesn't make sense to me, why would you
want a leaner cold start in a cold climate? Converslely, why a richer cold
start in California warm country?

Anyway, if you bought your truck in a location greatly different from where
you currently live, it might behoove you to ask about a more geographically
specific PROM. ...if all this isn't balogna.

They also changed my spark plugs. Thanks, that saved me the effort as I was
gonna. I will check on my MPG now with this new chip. I have been
consistently 2 MPG below all you out there who have reported mileages. This
even when I was in Los Angeles doing highway commutes.

I am not convinced that the PROM is gonna fix my fault light coming on, but
we'll see. A buddy at CARB I was talking to made a good point. THere may be
an updated OBDI (one, 1, NOT 2, II) control strategy in the newer PROM,
which would cure the false MIL #48 that I'm experiencing. Good Point.
 Again, I'll be looking.

2. Coolant Leak - repaired at top of radiator hose, fine.

3. Hood Release - They replaced my hood release without my first one
breaking, I thought that was nice of them, I asked them to since I am over an
hour away from them and it's a deal to get the truck to them.

4. Passenger Seat Squeak - they lubed the rails, and also ordered me new
ones, I think the squeak is gone, but am not gonna complain about the new
set, we'll see after some miles on midwest road if it returns.

5. Front End Vibration at 45-50 MPH - Now, I've been driving trucks with
big tires for a while, I KNOW that there IS a vibration that is not simply
due to those "big tires you got on there" as the service writer claims. On
my repair ticket, the response was : test drive, no vibration, all normal.
Huh, I don't think so. Barnett had a deal where he kept reporting a
vibration, and they kept poo-pooing it, until he had the wheels balanced at
an independent tire shop and they were way off, and one rim was bent, or had
a flat spot! His dealer THEN ordered a new rim, and may reimburse him for
the 35$ he spent at the tire shop (Correct Barnett?), I think I'll simply do
the same. I don't need the hassle of my word against theirs when it is as
simple as this.

6. Rightmost AC vent broken - Here's one that I won on. My fiancee
accidentally kicked out the AC vent one cold winter night. It fell in the
curb and got buried in teh snow for about 2 months! Got run over may times
and so broke and couldn't be adjusted. Well without the actual part I knew
I'd have to buy another , but I found it after the thaw! Ha. I put it back
in and told them it no workee, and they are replacing it. I feel downright
thieverous.

7. The AC Fan - Thanks to the D90 owner who said the fan should come on
whenever the AC operates! I dont' remember who. The dealer found an "open
ground at AC motor" and repaired. Thanks to the power of the list!

That's about it, a couple other minor deals but nothing more noteable. I
just am glad to have the truck back. I got a Ford F150 as a loaner. Boy do
those things have a funky ride, so long and light at the back, and with those
stiff leaf spriings, its like a diving board over bumps. Yuck. I really
like the heavy solid and tight feeling on road of the D90. You can't push
the Def around like you can the Ford, or normal car, but if you drive with
forethought it works fine. The quick stop and go stuff is for other cars.

See ya.

Subject: 93RR ( Clicker Dude)

Hi! All,

Have had my 93RR for over two weeks now and Love it, BEST truck I've ever
owned! I have tried to put it to the test as best I can without taking it
off-road; as of yet!, I even had an experience with the all wheel ABS on
early morning unplowed roads and it worked in text book style! straight as an
arrow! a different experiance, considering my earlier truck was a Ford 4x4
pick-up with only rear ABS; which never seemed to work right, the rear wheels
still locked-up and caused a swerve to the right, in fact, any time the
weather was wet the rear wheels would almost always lock-up on the Ford!
AArrgg!!

Anyhow! all seems well, Have played with every button and switch on the panel
and find the sub-woofer button redundant and useless, the stereo sounds just
fine!!

Faults:1 Fuel consumption; Well! it's a 4x4 truck! I'll live with it!
:2 No tilt wheel; long legs, I can live with this also!
         :3 Did'nt buy one sooner!!!!

Positive marks: 1 The chicks love it!!!!!]
: 2 great road feel!, very comfortable, great road
confidence, excellant visibility all around!.
: 3 Never trusted a truck this much! We'll see down
the road!!
                       : 4 Best 4x4x Far!!

  David 93RR ( Clicker Dude! ) :-)

P.S. Hey! mom! were's my clicker at !!!
