Subject: NH Spring Mud run... Date Change

All,

Those interested in the Spring off-road run up here in New Hampshire. I have
changed the date to help a large number of LRO attend, seems that the last
Saturday of April is a busy day.

The date has been changed to Saturday May 4th 1996.

Please pass along to anyone you may have told not on the lists.

Leaving Keene NH at 10 AM SHARP !!!!!! More info e-mail me.

Safari Gard is relatively new, fabrication shop, and expedition supply
place, that specializes in augmenting LR for serious off-road use.

Greg Jevne is the owner/designer/fabricator etc.....

My experience to date with Greg has been very positive overall. Most of
his stuff is made to order based on previous work. Additionally, he is
always willing to do custom stuff.

Greg has been very willing to correct anything I've found wrong with his
products. He's even corrected things that didn't bother me but bothered
him. (Mine was the 2nd D90 at Safari Gard and much of the stuff I've got
is prototype.)

The aftermarket accessories he carries, ARB lockers, Hellas, etc. tend to
be priced very competitively. The stuff he makes is a little more
expensive than stuff available else where. (English suppliers, ARB bumpers,
etc.) I've found the custom aspect and the quality to be worth while.

I think Greg is on the rro list now so you may get a direct answer. I've
found it easier to get a hold of him via phone. (909) 698-6114. Can try
GJevne@aol.com. He's located in So. Cal.

Good luck, and a little patience goes along way. Safari Gard a small operation
that has been very, very busy lately.

Safari Gard Appears to produce some great things. I spoke with the owner at
length one afternoon and he seems very knowledgeable---I just wish my wife
would let me put some of his stuff on her Disco'.

Who makes the walnut insert pieces that I've seen on one Disco'???

The one I saw had about 6 pieces of walnut inlays around the instrument hood,
around the gearshift hump under the passenger air bags

It looked great--If it was a custom job and not manufatored I might consider
opening a business to manufature them.

Dave McCormack sez:
Gonna take a hack saw to my Disco.

Don't worry Dave, the first cut is the only one that hurts. ;-) If you do
it with the end cap on the truck, be careful not to bend the bracket one
the outside. The end cap is much less firmly attached there.

Besides, a new end cap only costs about $35.

OK CSO Digesters I need the help of the wisdom of
the group. The dealer tells me that ' the money pit
' needs rotors and brakes all around. I've got his
price for OEM parts but I can also get Brembo
rotors and pads from Best Price. Munro
Muffler/Brake will be looking at her tomorrow and
he assures me he can beat the dealers price. I'd
         like opinions/experiences of anyone replacing
rotors and brakes. Is Brembo better than OEM?
Atlantic British has a current special on a
complete brake kit. I'll be checking other parts
sources but if you have a good parts source I'd be
         glad to hear about it.

                               TIA,
                                 Rick

Dear all, i realise i have broken a cardinal sin by cross posting to both
lists, but for all of you who can get the financial times, page 7 has a full
page advert by none other than rover/landrover/mg to say they have won a
1995 supplier excellence award, (or is it THE).

This is good news as they will have to get better to win again.

but the really interesting bit is, most improved company is none other than
 LUCAS WIRING SYSTEMS. :-)

I can hear you all laughing.

 danny.

p.s. by the way i was clearing out the loft the other day and came across a
old autocar from early eighties, which had an article in it about lucas
winning a contract to supply wiring looms to BMW over Bosch as the BMW guy
said they were of a higher quality.....ha ha ha ha ha ha bonk (laughed my
head off, old but funny) :-)

     Morning all!

My Discovery will shortly be going in for its 15k service- assuming
that the dealer changes the airfilter then, any opinions on K&N's
products based on real world experience. Marketing hype and real world
performance are some times worlds apart. Also, does anyone know what
     dealers charge for the airfilter?

     Thanks

Don:

The dashboard and panel inlays for the Discovery are
manufactured.....Although I do not know by whom. However, they are
distributed by Atlantic British..
