Matt,

No I don't. I had the same problem filling out my ballot to. I ended up
just randomly picking vechicles I "liked" the most. Like the Camero SS
mounted on the J**P frame. :^)

Subject: replacement shocks

         CSOers,

The rotors and pads have been replaced all
around on 'the money pit'(90 RR). I guess the
shocks are next. I'm open to suggestions. I'm
leaning toward Bilstein gas shocks but what do I
know. Anxiously awaiting your comments. FWIW, Monro
muffler has their shocks priced at over $100 ea.
         Too high IMHO.

                             Thanks,
                                 Rick
                                 90 RR

Rick,

Have you looked into OME (Old Man Emu) suspension systems. I don't know if
they will work for a RR, but they are excellent in quality and price. I
spent about $500, with shipping, for shocks and springs from Bill Burke's 4
Wheelin America. Plus, you can get a variety of spring rates for your needs
(ie. large payload, winch etc.). Good luck!
Happy Trails!

Having just joined this list, simultaneous with acquiring up my new =
Discovery, I'm unsure of the protocol regarding "for sale" ads. However, =
it seems like people would want to know:

Someone just traded in a NAS D110 to Land Rover Seattle (for an Disco =
SE7. Go figure). I've wandered through it, and it appears in excellent =
condition, with low mileage (approx. 40k; I don't recall the exact =
number right now). Judging from the wear and tear, I'd say it hasn't =
ever been seriously driven off-road - as someone at the dealership said =
to me, it appears that the farthest off the road it's been is on the =
curb at Nordstrom's.

At any rate, they're selling it for $49,500, and the price appears to be =
firm. Their number is (206) 682-9205; ask for Bruce Leon.

I'm rather glad that it wasn't on the lot when I was looking, or I might =
have been sorely tempted to spend a lot more money than I could possibly =
afford.

Cheers,

What kind of Ranchos were they? Everyone I know who has Ranchos on
thier trucks raves about them. Especialy those with RS9000s and the
in-cab adjustment controls. Are you sure you were given the correct
replacement shocks for your rig?

Greetings all,

I finally got a CB radio! Now, I need to find an antenna and a place to
put it! Obviously, center of the roof is the ideal location
functionally, but I'm looking for suggestions....

I don't really mind (too much) drilling holes in the Range Rover, but I
hesitate to use center of the roof due to potential trail damage. Also,
will an aluminum roof still make a good ground plane? And, I'm concerned
that if (when!) I hit a branch with a roof mounted antenna, will it
damage the aluminum roof?

I tried a magnet mount on the hood, but I get too much interference from
the engine. I can't use it on the roof, since the roof is aluminum.

Please advise me on your opinions. What do you Range Rover owners do?

Thanks a bunch!!

Subject: 90 RR Purchase advice

I may have finally found a RR. Its a 90 County, 90,000 mi., brown,
sunroof, CD, new PS Box, decent tires. Asking $15,900. Its at another
LR dealer over three hours from here. It sounds in fairly good shape
from our phone conversation, but I need to see it to be sure. One or
two door dings, one piece of wood on console is scratched(cracked
slightly?), Sunroof needs to be (and will be) fixed.

Edmonds price service on the WWW seems to indicate this is a good
price, but I would love to hear the RRO list thoughts. I would rather buy
a Rover locally and I can wait even a few more months, but if this is a
real good deal then I'm willing to drive. I will probably go see it tomorrow
if I decide its worth the trip.

Also, Is anyone in N. Alabama familiar with this RR?

So what do you think?

Thanks in advance,
William

Subject: Maintenance for OffRoading

Hi All,

I purchased a 94' Defender 90 two weeks ago and finally got it off road over
easter sunday. What a blast!! I live in Baltimore and most of the nearby sites
to offroad have many large (20' long X 2'deep) mud puddles, Although I did'nt
have any trouble navigating through, and I know these trucks are built for much
worse conditions than these, I was wondering exactly how much maintenance, in
the name of maximum longevity, is required after a couple of hours of playing
in the mud. I know the wading plugs should be installed, but I am mainly
concerned with the wheels/hubs and mud on the engine. Thanks.

P.S. Thanks for the comments I received when I asked about the price I paid for
the truck.

Happy Rovering,

I don't know what Rangie folks do, but I can relate what I did on my
90. The rear spare tire mount has bolts which hold the tire to the
tailgate. If you buy a fiberglass antenna with a mirror mount designed
for American trucks (onyl bolts to 1/2" surfaces, of which there aren't
many on a LR), you can attach it to one of the top bolts. The antenna
then sticks up between the spare tire and the back of the top. With
the fiberglass exterior, the antenna doesn't do any damage when whipped
around by the brush, and is mostly protected by the rear of the car,
yet is far away from the engine, so the reception is good. I ran the
cable out of the way to the CB in the console.

    David, all,

I have a CB set up for part-time use in my '87 RR. The CB mounts with
heavy duty Velcro to the bottom of the passenger side dash with quick
disconnects for all the wiring. I had the same concerns about an
antenna until I found a cellular style CB antenna at Radio Shack. It
uses a through-the-glass type system like a cellular and is short and
coiled. I glued it on at the top of the right rear window. Not only is
it short enough to be safe from moderately low trees, the mast can be
easily unscrewed from the mount for tight spaces. I doubt if it
performs nearly as well as a quarter-wave setup with a big ground plane
but works fine for keeping in touch with other nearby vehicles, which is
    all I use it for.

    Good luck,
