     Andy:
This morning while driving the Pike into Boston, I was ignored by
yellow 90 (he always ignores me) and a White Disco.
On the other hand while on rt 27 in Natick the other weekend saw a
Disco followed by a new RR and got waves from the Disco
We just have to train these folks. Give us a couple of years and they
     will all be waving!

Bob,

I have no photos yet, but would be happy to fax you my plan. I
devised it with the help of Mark Ritter, who was kind enough to provide me
with a description of the type of materials needed and basic dimensions. It
is made from 8" structural steel channel with 1/4" steel plate sides. Mine
cost $63 dollars to have welded and drilled and I even had tow loops added
to each side. I am still in the process of painting it and have not fitted
it to the truck so the jury is still out on whether it is just right. I
plan to mount it this weekend and will fax you next week when I'm sure it
will work. I went with an under the bumper mount because it is a simple
design that I could afford. I may upgrade to a winch bumper down the road.
With regards to the clutch, I think it will be readily accessible, but will
require that I reach under the bumper. I want the solenoids out of the
weather because I hear they have a tendency to corrode and short out. I
figure under the hood should help.

The Camel Trophy Disco does have the Superwinch Husky 8500. The hidden winch
is only available on models without A/C (all U.S. Spec. Disco's have A/C) On
U.S. Disco's the A/C condenser is where the winch would go.

Saw another Enterprise Disco, green, out of NY, at the Star Market on Alcorn

Do you think I should tell Enterprise I intend to go off road? :):)

Will wave at LROs I see!!!

Oscar,

Is it still mud season in MA? You'll have a great time.
Just drive it as if it were your own, and wash it several days before
you return it to them. Everybody will be happy.

All,

on the winch mount issue. It is possible to fit a hidden winch on vehicles
with Ac and oil cooler. Basically all the US RR and Disco's. You will have
move / add more pipe to re-route the oil cooler pipes behind the back of the
first cross member.

I plan on getting a Warn M8000 for my 88 RR. The mount is coming from the UK.
Actually from LR UK. They have P/N for a fitting kit.

The same for the Superwinch. You will have to relocate that oil cooler pipe.

Mark,

I did not re-route the oil cooler line. The height of the Warn
M8000 is only 6.5". I just lowered it enough to give a good inch of
clearance. The total drop from the chassis horns is about 7.5". I guess
one could argue that the wire could bunch up and rupture the oil line.
However, the winch comes with two bars that run parrallel to the spool which
should arrest the cable before it could hit the oil line. Has anyone out
there run into a problem with the wire rope hitting the oil cooler line?
