I don't know much about RR but I have had some problems with rusting on welded seams on my '95 D90 Wagon. LRNA gave me the standard 'contact your dealer.' The dealer told me there would be a THREE week down time for a total rust inspection/repair because it's under warranty. So taking matters into my own hands I bought this stuff called Rust Avenger by 3M. It comes in a easy to apply pen with a scraper cap. It goes on off-white and dries black and the area is now paintable. Fortunately, all the areas that I have treated are colored black so I haven't bothered painting them. For example; you can rev your engine up to 2000 RPM and then lock the hand throttle. This will hold that RPM level while your out operating the winch and guiding the cable. Cost is $85 and he told me installation is easy and takes about 45 minutes. Sounds like a good idea for someone like me who off roads alone a lot. Pretty neat. Also told me that there working on a D90 cover that will fit over the windshield and roll cage and attach to the regular top side channels. I guess the idea being it would be easier on/off than the full top, and would keep the rain out without having to reinstall your door tops. They convert the top layer of iron oxide molecules(rust for you non chemists) to a thin layer of iron phosphate molecules. The key here is that little phrase, thin layer. The phosphate molecules are indeed immune to further oxidation, but all the oxide molecules underneath are still merrily eating away at the base metal. This is for thick rust areas. For very light surface oxidation, you must really be thorough in removing it with a scothbrite pad before applying the converter. It does work, but only on light areas of rust. As for the 3 week wait for the dealer, they have loaner cars don't they? I'd sure think about biting the bullet, it'll only get worse the longer you wait. Kinda like a bad tooth. O'yea about the tonneau. I have the full tonneau, and ripped the area where the headrest passes into the tonneau. It was a hot day, the material got very soft and the tear happened easily. The seats must be in the right position (if I remember correctly in the rear position). The snaps that attach to the dash also can become a problem (two of three pulled though the fabric). I sent the tonneau back to the dealer. They sent it to an awning repair shop and they reinforced the areas around the snaps with heavy canvas. Works great, and no danger of pulling the snaps through the fabric. Also for those interested, the full tonneau with only the driver side open, provides extra insulation/heat on chilly mornings (looks great too!). The wiper motor in my 87 burned up about 2 years ago. The motor is
accessed by removing the cowl panel in front of the windshield, which
requires first removing the bonnet. Its a simple but 2 person job. Good
details are in the Range Rover workshop manual that I bought from Atlantic
British about 6 years ago (expensive but worth every penny). One tip:
don't put sheet metal back untill you verify that the wipers work and park
where you want them.

Rustoleum and a few other manufacturers now make a product that

noticed a small amount of rust on one of the chassis welds as well. But I
