Date: 27 Apr 96 09:52:24 EDT From: Mark Ritter <70472.1130@CompuServe.COM> Subject: Michelin XZL's Anybody out there in Roverspace have any info on the new Michelin XZL? I have seen them in LRO and LRW. They look more aggressive than MIchelins other offerings (with the exception of the XCL with you can't really run on the road). Supposedly they have replaced the XCL. My local tire dealer says he has never heard of them and Michelins 800 number says they are only available in huge sizes for large trucks (lorries). Any info would be appeciated especially form those of you in England where I know they are for sale. I am looking for a 235/85-16 size and my tire dealer says if its made he can get it. I am just looking for proof. Mark Ritter 94 well prepped Disco ------------------------------[ <- Message 2 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960428 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

Sounds like a good idea for someone like me who off >roads alone a lot. Pretty neat. RN found a LR unit that works great on my D-90. It's stock LR but the dealers can't touch it because it violates safety issues. Mine works as a great cruise control (only when I'm on clear open highway). It is really just a hand throttle actually built for Land Rovers but it has a locking capability (simple twist to lock and release)so it's flexible to use to keep RPM's up when you need them held and you can't keep a foot on the pedal (charging or welding). There is even a plugged hole on the steering column to mount the knob. Most people recomended the Champion RN12 YCC. They have been great for me. Claims (and this has happened in Canada too) is that higher than expected consumption of heating oil (diesel fuel) in the American east coast resulted in refinery capacity being used to produce more, at the expense of producing gasoline. > '95 Discovery (@14 mpg -- rush hour, stop and go traffic) '64 109 sw @ less than 14mpg at the best of times...
