I'm going to Sweden for a vacation in June. Reading about Lapland made
it seem to be a good place for a Land Rover. Are LR rentals possible?
Should I consider an imitation if LR is not? Are there interesting
places that make renting a 4WD desirable?

Subject: Hellas using RR driving light wiring?

Several weeks ago someone asked about installing new driving lights
(Hellas?) using the existing wiring from the RR's spoiler mounted driving
lights. I never saw a response. Did you do it successfully or get any
useful responses?

I am considering taking off the spoiler on my 90 RR and putting some
lights on the brushbar, probably Hella 1000's (although I'm open to
suggestions). I would prefer to use the existing switch and wiring.
Does the existing driving light wiring have a relay? Is it capable of
handling the added power?

Ideally I would like to simply unplug the existing lights and plug in
(probably after installing a new connector) the new lights. At the very
least I would like to use the exising switch and its wires and add just a
new relay and wires from the relay to the lights and from the relay to
the power, although I'm not quite sure how.

Half the fun of having a Rover is figuring this stuff out.
Thanks in advance.
William

This is the first post I've gotten from the rro list (realtime) in about a
week. I thought I had been dropped, so I resubscribed only to be told by
the majordomo that I was already subscribed. There are major problems with
rro and the lro lists. Maybe it's time to move them to another server.

Hello? Hello? Is anybody out there?

I found that my rear brake pads on my D90 (with about 20k miles) are
next to gone. I ordered a set ($50, ouch!), but I'm curious if this is
normal wear for 20k miles. I must confess to being used to much
lighter vehicles which wear more slowly on their pads. Should I be
concerned about uneven wear between front and back as well?

Subject: Nigel's disease?

Uh oh. Up until a couple of days ago my daily lro & rro fixes were pretty
steady. Then I went and talked to Trevor Easton about his problems, and
now I'm off the lists!

Could Nigel's disease be spreading to our mailers?!?? <8-0

Suggestions from previously afflicted by now cured list subscribers
appreciated. Email me directly. ;-)

Subject: Fuel tank recall follow up

An interesting thing I noticed the other day_-when I filled up the tank
with gas. I managed to stuff 20.4 gallons in; with the old tank I had
never managed more than 19.6 gallons (and that was a time when I
literally ran out of gas).

The fuel gauge thing is still annoying; when I get time I think I'll see
if a pull-up resistor won't fix that.

Cheers

Congratulations! And it is good that you love your Land Rover: helps in
getting through tough times...

I have one of the '94s that tended to stall and not re-start. The
technician at Seattle Land Rover found that there was (excess) grease in
some of the wiring harness connections related to the air intake sensor
and EFI, I think. After he painstakingly removed the grease
with small tools (dental picks, etc.) the problem did not recur.
