Sorry about your flooding disaster. Was it completely inundated? How
much is the insurance company allowing for your '89? Could you get more
by piecing it out?

Subject: Annabelle's Final Rusting Place

Hello To All - Well I bought another RR last night. It is an absolutely
impecable, showroom perfect grey/grey '90 County with 83K. I wouldn't
have expected a ''94 to look this good or run as silky smooth as this
one. Given all that, I don't think I'll be interested in buying back
Annabelle for parts (maybe to bury in the back yard, though).

I am going to take a few parts of the truck like the winch and the few
stereo components that stayed above the waterline. The insurance co.
says it's ok. But if any of you are interested in salvaging parts off
the car, you can contact Tom Merrick at Heritage Insurance. His number
in Milwaukee is 414-258-6666 x243. If you want any information on the
condition of specific parts, drop me a note.

No flowers, please. Donations can be made to the Annabelle Memorial Fund
(AMF) in any currency. Now.... a moment of silence.

Amen.

I've been lusting for a D90 Station Wagon so I called my local (Walnut
Creek, CA) Land Rover dealer yesterday to ask when the 1997 's would be
arriving.

The salesman said that they were going to start production in September and
that the vehicles would start arriving in October or November.

However, he also claimed that only 200 were being built so that if I really
wanted one I had better put a deposit down now. He also said that they
were estimating MSRP to be about $37,000.

Does anybody know if this is accurate information?

Thanks,

Reid

Ahhh, some are already in the USA. Several people have seen them
on the docks and moved inland.

More than 200 are being built.

Don't know about the price, but the rest is wrong, but then
again, since when did most LR salesmen know anything about the
	product?

Reid,
here's some of the latest news that's been floating around re the '97
SW.

Production is planned to start in Quarter 3 with an on sale date in
November, 1996. Initially, production will concentrate on SW's.
Spring 97 will see the soft top returning. This announcement was made
during a press conference at the New York International Auto show.

New features (some don't seem "new")
1. 4 speed ZF auto trans
2. 4.0 litre V8
3. New interior trim including new cloth for SW's.
4. Revised exterior color selections.
5. New AC package
6. New full soft top with improved sealing (I believed this was
recently discussed, but I can't remember by whom).

The new D90 will share the same 4.0 V-8 as the disco, and only be
available in Automatic. Production is limited and will end by August
1997. Retail pricing targets approx $32,000 for the soft top and
$34,000 for the SW have been announced. Final pricing will be
announced later this summer by LRNA.

I got some of this info from Rob Cohen, who got a marketing bulletin
faxed from LRNA.

Dixon, who's seen some on the docks in the US? I'm curious to hear
more!

As for their production numbers, I would agree with Dixon and would
have to guess they could pump out more than 200 of them in over a
year's time span. That, plus the fact the limited 500 that they made
last year sold like hotcakes.

Wow! the CSO list has spies and informants on the docks! I'm impressed.

Forget who. Quintin I think told me. Saw them in
Baltimore. Heard the same via other people too. Someone
at the Birthday Party had seen one too somewhere (Wasn't

I thought production was to be in the order of 2-3 thousand of
	them.

Don't know for sure, but I seem to remember that the quantities were
different, but that the SW type would come out first (for winter0 and
the ragtops would follow; and that the MSRP was < $35K!

Best $1.59 I ever spent
After almost running over a Miata I went to Kragen auto parts and bought a
small square convex mirror that stuck to the passenger mirror of my Range
Rover.
Installation took under 10 seconds.

There is relevant press release at the LRNA web site
(http://www.landrover.com/win/news/def90pr.html)

It makes no mention of limited production. Estimates the price
at $34K for the SW.

It seemed to take LR a while to part with all the '96 SW's. Unless
one was real particular about a certain color there always seemed
to be a couple around for sale. I would speculate production of
the '97s will likely be limited by demand like the '94 and '95
convertibles.

Thanks for the consolation. The "new" '90 I bought handles like a champ.
I think there was something inherantly wrong with Annabelle from the day
I bought her. She never handled well. Later I found a lot of broken
glass under the rear carpet and the telltale masking tape marks around
the trim. She'd been hit before and maybe this contributed to her poor
handling.

Hi all,
Custom racks;
I'm going up to Rovers North July 19th to finalize the design of my custom
jack/shovel/pull pal and jerry can mounts. I think I'll also scope out
these mirrors while I'm up there. I have some small stick on convex mirrors
now but I agree there not the best to see anything out of.

Safari Gard;
Talked to Greg at Safari Gard. Diff gards, air rock sliders, and rear skid
plate shipped out yesterday. Should have the install done before Downeast
rally! Rear bumperettes, rear work light mount, and custom front
bumper/skid plate for the Husky Superwinch should be ready within the next
few weeks. Greg said he has gotten another order for one of these bumpers
for the Superwinch. Anyone on the list? I keep hearing from others that his
stuff is excellent and worth the wait. I hope so.

Sunday off roading post;
Jim Pappas, who was one of the other D90 owners out off roading with me
last Sunday told me I wrote (that when one of the D90's was on a severe
side slope and almost ready to topple on it's side, the right rear wheel
was at full droop and it was still off of the ground 3"). Was anyone
wondering why I was so excited about a tire being lifted 3" off of the
ground? :> What I meant to say was three FEET! Honest. Mindfart at the
keyboard I guess. I'll bring pictures to show at Downeast if anyone want's
to see :>
Cheers,
Barnett

I considered going this route, but was completely un-impressed with the
optical quality of all the stick-on convex mirrors I looked at, plus
they are too small to be usefull unless you get one big enough to cover
most of your stock mirror. Further, the ones I saw were all so convex
that I though the fish-eye effect would make them difficult to use. The
LR mirrors are big and just convex enough to provide a complete and
clear view of the lanes beside you; they are wide angle without being
fish-eye. IMHO, there is really no comparison between the full size LR
convex mirrors and the small stick-ons.

Subject: Caravan to '96 National Rally from NM, AZ, TX (and others)

I got myself signed up for the National Rally in Crested Butte and thought
it would be nice to see how many Rovers from the SW we can get together.

I live in Albuquerque and thought anyone from down south (El Paso, Las Cruces,
Tucson, West Texas, etc) could join up here. Then we head north and pick up
Santa Fe, Los Alamos etc. Are there any interested parties out there?

If there is a caravan already planned, let me know so I can join in.

From: "David C. McCormack" <dmccorma@execpc.com>
Subject: Land Rover Adventures III

Just received "Land Rover Adventures III" video tape from Land Rover of
North America. The tape shows the U.S. tryouts for the '95 Camel Trophy,
segments of the '95 Trophy itself, a Land Rover sponsored 24 hour ski race
in Colorado, and invites owners to come on one of the Land Rover driving
school adventures (recall recent traffic regarding the mailing advertising
the adventures and showing a Disco with an unusual contoured roof rack).
Anyway, I purchased a '95 Disco and received a tape on Discoveries from Land
Rover as well as this tape, unsolicited and free. Having watched the tape
this morning, which is full of great footage showing Discos doing it all, I
am finding it difficult to sit here in the office and look at my Disco just
sitting in the parking lot:^( I've got to plan an adventure . . . soon!
