From: "Trevor Briggs" <Trevor@optonline.net> Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2000 11:47:19 -0500 Subject: Computer reading diagnostics I purchased the software after I had the check engine light come on. The = Westchester dealer reset this for me one lunch time. I did not like the = idea of being 100% dependent on the dealer. I have only used it a couple = of times. Just to see what it can do. Some of the LR specific stuff is = missing. But for the basic reseting of those service/check engine lights = on ODBII viehicles should work fine. Or at least tell you what is wrong. From: Jim Ryan <jryan@wavefront.com> Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2000 17:14:07 -0600 Subject: O2 Sensor removal I obtained what I hope are the correct O2 sensors from Nissan. However, when I took the part to a Napa dealer to get the tool for removing the existing sensor, they were not able to help. The counter guy said he had thought the O2 sensors were all the same size, but this one is obviously smaller. I got part number from a previous posting 22690-88G01. Any hints on O2 sensor removals? It all looks very nice until you notice the heading: "for '96 and newer cars, trucks, motorcycles". This does not apply to many RR Classic's at least... Anybody know if RR Classics factory ECU is OBD-1 (?) compatible. And if yes, are there any programs like the above mentioned that will do the job of reading it? Cheers, Jacob. ================================================================================ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ <- Message 5 -> | Table of Contents | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

Subject: Buckin' Disco
Well, it's happening again. Yesterday, my wife reported that the Disco was
bucking and chugging, misfiring and basically wouldn't get over 1,500 rpm.
I figured it was a wet ECM or something, as it was comin' down in buckets
and she had to drive through several large puddles (read: lakes). It
happened to me before, once immediately after splashing through a puddle
and again with no apparent cause. Both times when th carcass was hauled
into the dealer, they couldn't find anything wrong.
This morning, the thing was driving normally, then just when I needed power
the most, it acted like it was running on three cylinders...basically
couldn't get out of its own way. Then just as quick, all was well. Two
minites later, same symptoms: bucking, chugging, little backfires, no power
but curiously, no "check engine" lights. (I'm running with faily new
Magnecor wires, so I doubt that the ignition wires are responsible.)
Limped into the parking lot at work, but now it is running as sweet as ever.
So, in the event that it is wet/damp connections on the ECU or elsewhere,
does anyone have a cure or prevenative measures other than hosing the piss
outta everything with WD40?
Cheers

I have a 95 Disco and the other day I noticed that the battery light was on and the tachometer. was not working. Everything else seems to be working fine. Head lights OK, engine starts and runs fine, everything fine. I checked all pertinent fuses and the battery has 12.76 V. -Jonathan - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ <- Message 7 -> | Table of Contents | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]
