Does this mean Mrs Master Baiter, and master Master Baiter are exposed as anti RoW activists, without spreading their anti propagander? She should get chucked out of gleam for that, or probably get made a life member. How did you get the advance notice? Nettiquette is more than a social grace, area or county is very helpful and as you say interest group when relevant. A apt subject helps when searching old mails for one of Tim's Gems. I've prowled about there, it actually seems to be a decent resource for
folks interested in keeping RoWs open, and their published perspective
seems to be quite close to the attitued fo folks on this list,
with respect to keeping the proper level of classification.
Sitting on this side of the pond, it seems like they'd make good allies
in persuing vehicular RoWs.

That's a paragraph and a half.! I think we will be welcoming all and Sundry (and Mundry & Tuesday... as Tim would say). That could make for an interesting List, so long as the Horsey and he Bikey and the 4 wheely lot dont all go their separate ways as soon as it gets going! >Effectively, if you try to make the most useful material avaialble to the widest audience possible that can use - to fight for the proper classifcation of lanes in their back yard, so to speak, then the materials and methods will, after some period, become available or obvious to the opposite side. If the other groups do join this List we may all have better advice to go into PI's with. Only BOATS have to be shown on the def map and signed where they leave the metalled road, there is no need to mark County Roads. But the ironic thing is that they may have had the same provenance, even possible different part of the same route, they may look identical, and carry exactly the same traffic, but one has a high degree of protection as it is on the def map, the other is on the list of streets and can be kept quite, and then got rid of as knowbody uses it as nobody knew it was there. > I can only presume that this information has commercial value if it is not > widely or easily available. I am not familiar with the issue of the info [ truncated by list-digester (was 7 lines)] > information was indeed freely available, there would be no reason why a local > tourist office would not have it (unless the management was against such use). Yes (most) are and give a dirty look "We don t encourage that sort of thing here" (Brecon 1996) It might have some commercial value but is not widely exploited, except some O/R schools take people on trips as it takes time and some knowledge to find the maps to find the lanes. > If there is concern about the conditions of lanes in inclimate weather (ok, > so the other 10 months of the year), then those concerns should be included > with the route information, and as readily available. The concern is (true or not) that certain types will *choose* the seasonal routes to go and play in the mud. This will not do the greenlane cause any good if it does happen. But it is just as likely to happen on lanes regardless of vehicular rights or not, by yobbos, probably in stolen cars or on unlicenced bikes etc. > Distribution Channels: > The major advantage the land access groups, 4WD groups and TRF can offer is [ truncated by list-digester (was 13 lines)] > of the users groups that the lanes not be damaged so that they may continue > to be enjoyed by all users. As Richard B said we all had to start somewhere, and when Counties like Powys that has it fair share of lane damage by visitors, can offer no advice when & if to ever deviate from one set of tracks to avoid damage, it can be ignorance not lack of consideration that causes what some call damage. How wide is an un-enclosed road. Isn't that why roads were at one time one chain in width to allow passage round fallen trees or the founderous bits? And why it became the duty of the person enlosing a road to maintain the road? On a route over one local common, the commoners would not allow the RoW dept to mark the route "because we do not want the same route used all the time, we keep moving it about" > 'Real mail' vs. 'Educating Newbies' > And I do realize that some of the folks already on this list are [ truncated by list-digester (was 11 lines)] > is none of you would have objections to having more educated RoW campaigners > out in the field :-) Who is going to offer to write a definitive answer to the questions they think are the most Frequently Asked Questions?
