Hi all,
Some new features have been added to the WEB archives of the
list. It is still available in a daily format, but now instead of being the
same plain old text file you get in the mail, it has some html links
added to navigation and and to reply to messages, etc. and to follow
other URLs.
If you find that the volume of mail is too, much, or if you
find it more convient to view it via the web, you can go to
http://www.land-rover.team.net/RoW/today.html
to read the digest on a daily basis, also available are an index to the
archives, and previous daily digests.
A word about Bounces:
Evidently someone subscribed 'digest byway...' which was converted into
a mail address of 'digest.byway...', and thus when anyone submitted
mail to the list, this rogue address caused a bounce.
It is COMMON to receive a bounce message from ONE or more addresses
on a list, as long as the bounce is from an address other than
postmaster@playground.sun.com, that means the mail went through to
the majority of people A-OK.
Cheers,
Bill Caloccia wpc@Caloccia.Net

Date: Tue, 25 Mar 1997 16:50:44 -0000 Hi Mike Thanks for the info, have had a look at the article, no much hint of bias (NOT). Have already sent e-mail to editor telling him what I think about double standards Adrian -----Original Message----- From: Mike Rooth [SMTP:M.J.Rooth@lboro.ac.uk] Sent: 25 March 1997 14:43 To: lro-uk@playground.sun.com Subject: Sign of the Times? Anyone seen today's Times? Particularly those of you who greenlane. On p18 there is,written by one Libby Purves a virulent and uninformed attack on greenlaners and by inference all 4X4 drivers. You can access it on http://www.the-times.co.uk clicking on "opinions" and working from there. Now I happen to have on my desk an edition of "Punch" dated Oct 7th 1987.Wherein lies an article entitled "Careless Torque".It gives an account(and BTW its a very good article) of being presented with an old Land Rover by the authors husband.Wherein she "battered my way down the country lanes, foot down on its vibrating tin floor, knocking branches off low flying trees..." and "That winter,we sneaked out at nights and went off pulling stuck motorists out of snowdrifts, for the pure joy of it".......The author? Libby Purves. Some people obviously have short memories.
