Does anyone out there have any info on Oxfordshire vehicular RoW
particularly UCRs. I am sure that there must be more than shown on the
current OS maps. Dual status routes don't seem to be shown at all.

Mick,

What's all this about AWDC & TRF members being prosecuted for driving on
a RUPP in Herts? It is a bit alarming.

Too right it is? Anone know anything definite?

Subject: Highway in A.Bennett's constituency

Following an idea from Mick Dyer I have been searching the maps to try
and find an obstructed lane in Andrew Bennett's constituency. There
is one candidate so far identified (LR Map 109) and I have just faxed
this off to Tameside MDC.

I also have my man in Tameside (Rob Haldane) on the case!

The route is a definitive bridleway but continues over the Stockport
border as a RUPP (for about 15 yards!). It is shown as a 'white'
for most of its length and is away from any housing (except at its
northern end). It passes under railway bridge and over a motorway
(M66) bridge so there should be some deposited plans to give enough
evidence (hopefully) to allow it to be driven. I do not know yet
if it is obstructed but I would think that it probably is - at least
to cars.

I will keep you posted.

Cheers,
Bod.

Tameside MDC - Rights of Way Department

Dear Sirs,

I am interested in the Public Bridleway which runs from the
Tameside/Stockport border at grid reference SJ 906 936 to 'Hyde Hall'
at grid reference SJ 917 943.

Firstly, are you aware of any orders that relate to this route such as
previous stopping up orders from a higher status right of way or any
orders that were made at the time of the building of the M66 motorway?

Furthermore, is this highway included on the Council's List of Streets
Maintainable at Public Expense?

Many thanks in anticipation of your assistance in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Yes - One way we can start to demonstrate that we will not accept
irresponsible motoring use of the countryside is to do something about
it.

In the past our biggest threat has only been to report a number plate
to plod.
Maybe this is a chance to do something more 'high-profile' and it
should serve to demonstrate our intentions to 'the authorities' and to
'the public'

We are currently looking for an obstructed carriageway in the
constituency of Denton & Reddish (Bennett's constituency)!

There are not many unsurfaced anythings in that area though.

>is "s116" a s56, or are you now into closing roads down,

No No No Chris you missed the point.

Now that Tim has a Suzi type thing that cannot go very far, he has
started a cunning little plan to issue s116 applications for all
interesting lanes that he can find.

His idea is to start with one lane in each county and apply to have
them diverted so that they all start, finish and generally do not
leave Market Drayton.

Once he has one from each county he will bring in a few more from the
four corners of the country so that he can spend a day travelling
around all counties without leaving Market Drayton!

After some of the recent Footpath diversion orders that we have had in
Manchester recently it will not be long before a highway is diverted
so far that it ends up in another country!

Cheers,
Bod.
