More or less exactly what you ended up doing. Extremely tedious and
frustrating (what isn't with Windows?) but necessary (I speak as a
professional computer techie).

HOWEVER, you should always badger the support service of the maker of
your PC when dealing with a problem. This was reinforced for me only this
week in connection with a Dell machine. After spending something like 40
hours over a four week period I finally emailed Dell and received the
info that 'oh, we know about that one, download the fix from our site'.

If not available for inspection where stated during the relevant period you
are on a winner if you wish to have the slack b-----s do it all again - or
even scupper any PI/ confirmation of it.

Hello listies!

I seem to remember someone on this list saying that old OS maps
could be useful.

I've got a "Special Sheet Popular edition One-Inch Map"
on cloth of the Manchester area.
It says first published 1924 with periodical corrected reprint.
If it gives any clues as to age bridlepaths and footpaths are not
distinguished on this map. Original cost was Four shillings and sixpence.

approx GR's
bottom left SJ6371, top left SD6411,
bottom right SK2071 top right SE2111

or more crudely Bolton to just above Bakewell.

Free to anyone who has a genuine use for it.
e-mail me as I don't often have time to read this list.

Yes, but I respond to anything I can, they dont put user friendly policies in
for anything other than walkers and cyclist. Especially when they keep building
on RoW.

well, I got there at 6.35 and, guess what? no sign of the local plan.

Last meeting!!

Refused.

<<and to impose TROs on East Meon BOAT No. 42; Liss BOAT No. 15; Newton

The TROs are already in place but were temporary. Now to be made
permanent. Not a problem as they only relate to 4x4s - who, as previously
stated, make little or no contribution to the debate (in Hants), and
therefore loose out.

Has anyone a larger wooden spoon I could use?

I did, but he was doing his proper job. And half the problem kit was not his
anyway. There is a down side to getting a mate of a mate to knock something
together, but the downside of buying a real professional outfit is that as
soon as you change anything you are basck on your own. And anyway, the last
'expert' I had look at it, took two days to make no progress, and gave up in
disgust. That was a different problem though (or was it ...?)

Cheers, tim
