As someone once said ;-) Where have you been, Tim,XXX, No, Mick, never heard of my postings of Plonker Temple-Morris's election address:- Note he was appealing to his Conservative cahoots at the time, (don't ask how he's Lab now) Peter Temple-Morris’s Election leaflet 1997:- RURAL ACCESS AND URBAN INTRUSION This is a real problem now and increasing in the future. Access on a fair and proper basis there must be, but we are not some sort of playground for coach loads of ramblers, autograss racers, four wheel drive enthusiasts, fishing parties and so on. We rely greatly on our organisations such as the NFU and CLA; our local councils; and on me as MP to be constantly vigilant in this area. It has his mugshot on it as well. A collectors item. A copy of a letter from Warks 1st class dated 21/12/98 appears to be the first letter (to a local resident) saying they had had a request for stopping up. Now I may have to re-confirm the dates with Gareth, but it would appear the 116 appl. disclosure was first made known AFTER a report had gone to CC by a user!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, it does not matter. You might be concerned that your access to the countryside is proposed to be restricted, and it doesn't matter that you may not have sought out particular lanes in a particular area. The EDM claim is that lanes are being badly affected, and if she supports that view it is either on evidence or it isn't. Ask for her evidence so you can avoid problem routes, and help in management of them. There are such routes in Somerset, and one or two are a bit the worse for wear, but not primarily due to recreational 4x4 or motorcycle use. But let her identify them for you - I am sure she will not know of any relevant problems, and will possibly have been wound-up by a local turnip-grower. And if she sees muddy ruts on a FP or Bridleway, I bet she will blame it on us without looking to see why it is muddy, where the tracks go, what clues there are from the marks as to thy vehicle type that made them. AND ABOVE ALL not stop to think Ahhh! It's only a Footpath so all these vehicles MUST be local residents or Farm or Forestry etc with private rights! Does anyone have, or can everyone be on the lookout for an opportunity to photograph a tractor or other heavy non-leisure vehicle ON a green lane, and if muddy all the better, and with laden tailer, all the better still. This could be very important. The antis seem to get pictures of laners easily enough, when we are outnumbered by commercial wreckers we have very few to show as evidence. A picture speaks a thousand words, it's time for us to bite back.
