Worcestershire
Possibly West Worcestershire
Might be Michael Spicer

I was intending writing to as many of them as I had time to, not just
my local member, on the basis that her/his action would directly
effect me even though I don't live in his/her constituency. Am I
likely to get a reply? Temple-Morris broke off correspondance with me
previously, with the excuse that he was not my MP.

I would suggest that it is perhaps more important to write to MPs who
have NOT signed the EDM to say don't, than to those who have (there's
not much chance of them tippexing their signature off).

Just you wait - there are a couple of transatlantic link problems
currently slowing everything down. I bet the major is collecting
mail whilst this is happening. Then, just when you thought it was
safe, he (it?) is going to spit it all out in one go and deluge the
list.

Charlie,

Would you like to share it with us?
That way we can all:
1. Learn how elequant you are
2. Be inspired to write ourselves
3. See some views which we overlooked
4. Know more that we are not campaigning alone

and if all the above fails

5. Slag you off because you write better letters than we do!!!

Yes - I mentioned only that there was a TRO on Pennyfold Lane because
there MAY be some connection between the TRO and potential s116
order!

Trafford are a case apart. Unfortuinately ORPA has not reached
LR109 yet but when it does..... :-)

It is interesting that Trafford do hold a regular footpaths forum.
I have asked for an invite but was told that it concerns footpaths
only and therefore I cannot attend it. It seems that other groups
have also been refused attendance.

Trafford do tell me that they will consult me when any vehicular
highways are to affected by anything but that will never happen as
they do not believe that they have any carriageways!!!

Strange that there is a nmajor development happening which has
resulted in five roads being obstructed - even a landowner cannot get
to his stables with a vehicle! But have they told me anything of
this - you guessed it :-( But they are only on the LoS -
not on the DM as BOAT (only FP).

Bod

Subject: Advice please - TRO signs and RUPPS

Can anyone help me with two questions,

Is it possible to tell by looking at a TRO sign, whether it is genuine
or not? There is a byway near me that has a white square "access only"
sign (as opposed to a no vehicles sign with a white square "except for
access sign beneath).

What does a genuine TRO sign look like?

Second question:

There are several RUPPS near me, all are shown as RUPP on the
definitive map, and there are no modification orders as far as I can
see. How do I find out which has Vehicular access - it is a case of
research into past use? there were no other documents with the
definitive map, just the statement and some modification orders
(seemingly up to date).
One of the RUPPs is signed as a bridleway, and another has "anti
vehicle" posts at each end.

Many thanks in advance,

Scott.

This is easy. All compulsory signs are round, and have a red border. Examples
include 30 limits, and the Stop Children sign held by lollipop ladies.
There is a fairly comprehensive listing of such signs in the Highway Code.
Anything else does not count as compulsory, and might count as an illegal
'misleading sign'. Your Highway Authority should be able to help with advice -
if they won't I would like to know.

<< How do I find out which has Vehicular access - it is a case of

Yes, that is what is needed, but not just use, all other evidence as well. As
to what counts, you need my booklet 'Road Research' (£5 from this address) and
you also need to be aware of research has already been done. The best way to
find this out is to join one or more local green-laning or trail riding
groups.

Hope this helps

A white on blue rectangular 'Unsuitable for Motor Vehicles' can be a good
guide that it is a VRoW, and a nice one at that.

Hi Mike

There was an article in the local paper where some 4x4s had (they claim)
got lost and ended up half way up Penygent of the Three peaks.
I have found out from the YDNP that they do not belong to any club or
LARA, but a very nice picture was printed, I wrote to the editor but
guess what it was not printed!! A member of the YDNP is something to do
with the newspapers in Skipton and I feel that it was stopped because it
put the YDNP in bad light because of their percent policy and lack of
information on what routes can be used as part of a sustainable network.

So if _no_ letter of rebuttal was printed write again to the ed , ask why,
threaten with PCC action.

If you can prove this then mention it in your letter to the editor and ask
him to deny that pressure was brought to bear

Write to the YDNP and ask when they are going to get some info published.

Sensible is not a word I would normally associate with MP's, he just didn't
sign the EDM, either lost his pen or he was playing hooky that
day/week/month, or was on a fact finding mission to the Caribbean to study
the mating habits of the lesser spotted secretary, all at our expense of
course.
