Bill, Charlie or anyone

On the new edition maps there's some OPRA dots marked from SP 089224 to
091232.
Am I right in assuming that from the NE exit from the wood it becomes a
dual-status UCR/bw and that it runs N to the tarmac lane at 092234 (next to
the bridge over the stream) and not ESE along the track signed as a private
road, public bridleway?

cheers

David

Subject: Sarn Helen

Anyone know who's been doing what on Sarn Helen around SN939213, presumably
with a JCB or possibly a bulldozer? The bottom half of the hill up from the
bridge has been levelled but the top half remains untouched, the effect
seems to have been to leave a surface that is a mixture of stone and earth
in place of the previous (large) stones which makes it much softer and is
already showing signs of water erosion. Presumably it is also possible that
it will show wheel damage in a while, which was not true of the previous
surface as still in existance further up the hill where it is certainly
uneven with large rocks and some water damage but is all driveable, rideable
and walkable. The new surface is drivable but walkers will now get their
feet muddy, it doesn't drain like the old surface, and it is probably even
worse for mountain bikers who will sink in.

cheers

Correct - and proud of this fact :-)

Do you seriously expect me to read subject lines?
They seldom refer to the subject of the mail.

GLASS has a new national web site.

It is currently under construction but has enough content to make it worth

With blessing of CC, but a proviso the CC is resolved from all
responsibility, and a request to inform L/O first, we set about 'Meditation
Lane' in SO 5026.

Some substantial clearance work was done about a year ago, but was almost
certainly not driven (by 4w vehicle) It will need some use if it is to
remain open. Top narrow part cut back, middle section is a perfectly
manicured green, green-lane. used by a quad bike only.

SO 510 268 to 497 266

Then looked at the Rhiw 3028, That took a fair bit of clearing. Does most
times. Bolted chained gate converted to lift-off chain at the border.
Anyone visiting, please advise if this stays thus.

We then walked down to Oldcastle. This must be one of the biggest
potential projects for user-clearance in the UK. It is a 'just possible',
no single obstruction TOO big, but it is a very large project, but
potentially one of the best routes in the UK. (IMV)

As there is not much clearance of living hedges, nearly all is removing
large dead fallen trees, and 'farmers junk', fences, corrugated iron, and
some erosion work, does it have to be done before end of March?

What is the chance of getting a couple of week-end events, with 50 - 100
people in many different groups all working together?

Say a National lane clearance event, on some date other than on GLD,
several user groups working together to save this ancient, dramatic, coach
road? Which come first, approaching CC & NP, or finding out if we have the
resources and interest first?

Large bonfires (and BBQs) will be required, but the L/O is likely to not be
too keen. CC probably will be more positive.

Chris
