Subject: TAX EXEMPTION & V5's

Well, I now have my new V5 back, But what's this?

Revenue Weight = 2450Kg gross!! There was no weight stated on the
old V5. But 2450Kg! (close to the 107" gross wt.)
According to the Owners instruction manual for the series one, the
max. recommended gross weight should be 1900Kg for an 86" basic. I
have sent the V5 back to DVLC with a photocopy of the relevant pages
from the manual asking that it be corrected, I will keep you informed
     of any progress.

The problem seems to be that the V5 does not state what the wheelbase
actually is, i.e. Body type = 2-axil-rigid. And the tax exemption
only applies to vehicles under 3500Kg, hence the reason for now
stating the Revenue Weight. (shame they cant get it right)

The reason the DVLC has not automatically notified owners of
LandRovers, is that the computer cannot identify utility type
vehicles. Not that they argued when I sent my claim in.

                              (25 YEAR TAX EXEMPT)
                               & putting on weight

Hi Ian

you don't say exactly where or when you are planning to start your
trip from.

the reason I want to start from Kenya is so that I can miss out the
more dangorous (I can't spell) countries in north africa. I am
planning on setting off not this summer but the next (to fit in with
university) but this summer I am seriously thinking about having a
shorter "practice" exped. driving to France, Spain then to Morroco
and back again, as this will help me acclimatise?

got to go

Ed.
