From: CJ BETTON N9203387 <n9203387@hud.ac.uk> Subject: Stereo Whine. Date: Thu, 11 Apr 96 11:49:00 bst Hi Jason, A few ideas that could help with your stereo problem. Have you directly wired the stereo to the battery? Wiring into the fuse box can cause problems from other things dumping noise into the system. Did your radio come with an inline choke? (Black box on power/earth leads about 6 inches from radio). If this is missing, get one as they remove quite a lot of noises on the power supply. Have you got a good earth on the radio? Again, I prefer to run a separate earth wire directly to the battery. I "think" that you connect the alterator suppression capacitor to one of the larger leads. I'm not sure though, so get out the "magic" Haynes manual, cos there's a nice section in the back of all the haynes manuals about eliminating radio noise. Good luck on curing your whine and finding the cash to buy a 1000 watt amp so you can hear your stereo properly, Chris, 1961 SIIa Swb. ------------------------------[ <- Message 2 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960412 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

From: Julian Guy <gg75@dial.pipex.com> Subject: Gearbox oil leaks Date: Sun, 07 Apr 96 19:37:33 GMT Dear All My V6 Series 3 Lightweight is now leaving a trail of EP90 wherever it goes. Basicly it seems that the oil in the transfer box is leaking into the overdrive & the main gearbox. The result being that oil leaks from the o/d breather & from the main gearbox somewhere. I have checked the levels several times in the last few weeks and always the transfer box needs topping up, while the o/d & main box are overful. Does anyone have any good ideas? Perhaps the oil from the o/d breather could be piped back into the transfer box! Many thanks Julian Email: sarkwell@dial.pipex.com ------------------------------[ <- Message 4 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960412 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]
