I remember reading that some tubeless tyres have a small abrasive
patch on the inside of the tyres which will rub its way through a
tube in no time? could this be the problem?

Cheers
Richard

Depends on your wheels. If they are standard Land Rover wheel then you
will require tubes. Are you tyres of the tubed or tubeless variety. It should
be stamped on them. Tubeless tyres have internal abrasive ribs which
often rub a tube if fitted. You can eliminate this by fitting a protective rubber
sleeve inside the tyre before the tube. these should be available from your
dealer.

The alternative is some tubeless wheels such as 8 spokes.

Subject: Larger battery V Split Charge?
Date: Tue, 16 Apr 96 13:37:00 bst

Hi everyone,

Unsurprisingly, I have a problem and wondered if anyone could help.

To make journeys more interesting ,I've fitted a larger stereo system into
my motor. The problem is that the system is capable of drawing more than 40
amps, and if I use it while stationary the battery flattens in about half an
hour. The battery is only a year old, so should be still in good condition.

I've put a K&N filter on, so I've got the space to extend the battery tray
to the full length of the wing. Should I go out and buy a massive battery
that will fill this space, or should I buy another battery the same size as
the existing one, and run a split charge system? (One battery for the car
and one for the stereo).

Has anyone used a split charge relay? How much do they cost? Are they easy
to fit? If I go the split charge route, should I buy a leasure type (deep
cycle?) battery for the radio?

Thanks in anticipation,
Chris

I have just Insured my County 110 fully comp with First Direct.
I would recomend them to anyone especialy after most companys wanted to
charge the earth or clamed that Land Rover never made a 2 1/4 petrol
110.
BTW the quote was around about 139 fully comp with full NCD.

Betcha' never thought you'd see me on the CSO list...someone who has been
driving a Series III since '72, but last Friday, I took possession of a
"new" 'willow' Discovery. Actually, it's a "QP1" (quality point one) or
pre-production 1996. It's got a few miles on it and a wee bit of body
damage, but the price was *great*. It's an SE-7 *five speed*, except that
it doesn't have the rear air conditioner (a liability in severe off-roading
if you ask me), so I'll call it an SE 6 7/8.

It has all the usual Disco excentricities (squeaking steering wheel, rear
speaker fountain) and I've already had to do emergency reapir on it - the
5/16" hose from the radiator to the overflow tank rubbed on the serpentine
belt and was cut through - check yours and secure it out of the way *today.*

Cheers
