Hi Richard,
I own a SIII lightweight resplendent (?) in NATO green. I got my paint through
P.A. Blanchard (they advertise in LROI) tel 01430 872765. The smallest quantity
they could supply me with was 5L at a cost of about #20 (I think anyway- it was a
while ago). They have to courier it to you which puts the prise up a bit as the
GPO won't deliver "chemicals" and this includes paint. I wouldn't bother buying a
smaller amount than that even if you could - it gets used eventually...
As for aerosols. Some paintshops do make "one of" aerosol cans but its expensive.
You'd be better of buying one of the Humbrel airbrush kits ( jar, spray head and
aerosol air canister) for touch up work. They only cost about #10 and do a really
good job (thin the paint by about 50% with white spirit for spraying). Plus
there's the advantage that the next time you get a scratch ;-) it's there ready
and waiting to go! I've found it useful.
Hope this helps
Paul Hazell (SIII Lt/wt 1972)

My long promised and much rescheduled free holiday - err I mean business trip, has finally be fixed. I am off from Thursday 25 April for a week or two, so you will have to manage without me! All list admin stuff will have to be handled by my co-mug Ian Robinson - you're on your own pal! And my LR is still a bare chassis! It will get finished some day. I may be able to get access if I can hack from one company with a supposedly secure network to another separate, supposedly secure network, but as it is not definite you had best be warned that I won't be around. Date: Thu, 18 Apr 1996 20:56:15 +0200 From: lopezba@atnet.at Subject: Avon tyres/tires Dear specialists, idly leaving through my SI Parts Catalogue the other day, I came to the place where it said that the original 7.00-16 tyres were either Dunlop RK3 or Avon TM. I sat up straight as I remembered that two of the tyres on my 1958 SI were Avon tyres - a brand I had never heard of, I am sorry to say, but had assumed to be cheap no-names that the PO got at one point or another. So today I checked, and here's what it says on my tyres/tires: AVON TRACTION TM MILEAGE 90 degrees clockwise: Regd. Design No 865220 E24687 90 degrees clockwise: 7.00-16 C 6 Ply Rating 90 degrees clockwise: (a picture of parts of Stonehenge) Made in England I assume that E24687 indicates the year of manufacture. Does anyone know? Is it possible that these are the 38 year old originals? They still have a lot of profile (more than my rear tyres, which are Semperit and ready to be replaced).
