My old ex-MOD LR's had a separate turn signal bulb in the centre switch
console; my 90 has a trailer warning on the dash. Neither have ever so much
as winked, although I usually remember whether I'm towing or not without them.
Cheers

]From: CJ BETTON N9203387 <n9203387@hud.ac.uk> Subject: Split charging. Date: Fri, 19 Apr 96 10:01:00 bst Hello all, Please will someone help me on the following problem. Has anyone used a split charge relay? How much do they cost? Are they easy to fit? If I go the split charge route, should I buy a leasure type (deep cycle?) battery for the second ( stereo system) battery? Or am I better off fitting a larger battery instead? Thanks in anticipation, Chris 1961 S11a SWB Petrol, 55% added effieciency. ------------------------------[ <- Message 3 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960420 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

My Owners handbook says "Weight Running, with water, oil, and 5 galls fuel, Diesel model(88") 1405kg".Max payload, with driver and two passengers, on road,454kg.So 2500kg *tops* would be my figure.Perhaps they are all equipped with Pentium chips. After all,its only an error of about 33%,or a ton.Mere bagatelle. Needless to say they are getting it back, and will continue to get it back untill they get it right!! Mike Rooth PS,Do *not* lend any of these people your Land Rover.Could be bad for your springs. ------------------------------[ <- Message 4 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960420 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

Why change it? ------------------------------[ <- Message 5 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 960420 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

I would be inclined to challenge this on the grounds of an unfair contract
clause.
Byeways *are* public highways and therefore if one has insurance which is
a legal requirement for use of a vehicle on a public highway then it is not
reasonable to find oneself uninsured because the surface has changed.
Imagine stopping on the M25 to examine whether the road is of tarmac or
concrete construction !! Where also do you draw the line because some
byeways may have been tramac at one stage but over the years have aged
into being grass covered (especially down the middle area).
It's time we all gave these pompous insurers a bit of consumer flack. Get
them to put in writing the reasons for their *assumptions* then write to your
MP. They're quick to take your premium but when it comes to a claim I bet
most of you will find out that your pride and joy is worth less than half you
think it is and they'll do anything to get out of paying.
An insurance company requires you to notify any modifications to the
vehicle. In previous enquiries they have defined modifications as anything
and everything that was not fitted by the factory as standrad for the make
and model. So...what of the 90s which had radial or cross ply tyres as an
option which could be ordered from the factory but when Land Rover re
badged them as a Defender the option was withdrawn, therefore in
insurance companies' eyes a Defender with cross ply tyres is a modified
vehicle !!!
In my book insurance companies are a bit like bankers and we all know
what Jesus did to them 2,000 years ago......little changes.
Ahhhh, that's better....
