It is a good thing to use a split-charging with 2 rectifiers.

        Power line Sense for charge
                  | control
                  | |
                  ^ |
                 / \ |
                / \ |
               / \ |
              / \ |
             / \ |
             | | |
             V V |
To fridge ---| |--------------
             + +
       Aux. batt. Main Batt.

OK. I know, I'm hopeless to make drawings in ASCII.
Therefore a little explanation:
In most generators today, the charge-control circuit is mounted inside =
together with 6 rectifier diodes. If there is only one battery, the =
sense and the power lines are connected. For twin battery option, you =
can charge both batteries through extra diodes, on my drawing I have =
used the letter V. When charging, there will be approximately 0.7V loss =
over the diode, therefor the sense wire is connected directly to the =
main battery. The generators charge control will continue to charge, =
until the voltage on the battery's plus connection is indicating fully =
charged.
NB: It is NOT possible to draw any current from the batteries through =
the diodes, so all equipment must be connected between the battery and =
the diode, also the connection to the starter-motor.

If anything unclear, don't hesitate to contact me directly on e-mail: =

Subject: V6 Cooling

My V6 Lightweight overheated while playing in the mud today, but I'm not
sure why.

The radiator, virtually brand new standard Series 3, was partially clogged
with mud. Is the radiator too small ? Was the mud causing the problem ?
An electric fan is fitted behind the radiator using a Kenlowe thermostat. I
think the fan may be off an ordinary car. The fan was running most of the
time. Is the fan likely to be too small? Would a second ex-car fan in front
of the rad make much difference?

Is the problem more likely to be something else, such as blown head
gasket?

I have only owned the vehicle since January so this is the warmest
weather I have used it in.

Any advice gratefully received.

What do other V6 users have in the cooling department?

Many Thanks

Julian
(Hot V6 !)

Anyone know when: The rear axle became a salisbury and the 5
main bearing engine was introduced? Basically, if it has the
salisbury, would the engine be 5 main bearing. Post 1974 stuff
tends to be thin on the ground over here so have never seen
a working, or complete Series III 109 wagon.

	Thx.
