No problem. I don't know anything about the different symbols, but
remember seeing inverted Vs on the news in recent years.
I've wondered how often mine has flown too. Haven't sent the details to
the Museum yet, but I think mine has had a double life. Originally FFR, but
missing things like aerial mounts, "shelves",etc, and has gained a full
compliment of rear seats. Also the hardtop (originially yellow) doesn't
match the vehicle (originally bronze? green). The yellow hints at an
ex-RAF history.

In Huddersfield on Friday evening, I saw a civvie Lightweight on the road.
Not that common really, but then I noticed the UN markings which were
still on the white vehicle - a bit more unusual, eh?

Yeah, it probably is. If you phone, they'll say what they can and can't
do, but I was told the reg. number is a great help.

     Hi all....

Can anyone please suggest any options for fitting rear seatbelts in
the second row (forward facing seats). My 1987 110 SW lacks any sort
of brackets for fitting. Also I've been searching without success for
a 2nd hand set of County seats - are there any other seats from any
other vehicle which could be fitted with minimum of modification.

     Thanks all,

What Ho!

Am I going mad or something, or is the address on the Land Rover WWW=
page and on the help sheet you get from majordomo wrong. It says to send a=
message to majordomo use this address " Majordomo@Land-Rover.Team.Net ". =
Well it doesn't work, well at least not for me.
The address that does work is " Majordomo@uk.stratus.com " can=
anybody throw any light on this anomaly.

The WWW page I am referring to is as follows:-

I don't know if it's the same problem but I'm running Olympic remoulds on my
Lightwieght and the front N/S tyre has worn on the outside couple of inches,
the tyre shop told me to get the tracking done " no joy " it's still wearing

Richard,

Thought you may be interested (as well as other people on the list?) -
I had a quick shifty at the vehicle plates in my Landy last
night. Came across the plate which sound similar to yours - ie no info
on it except for scored out VIN and a vehicle number. What was the
vehicle number??
     			31 GB 93

Could this be it? If so, then its pretty good that my initials are
also 'GB'. Who would have thought it - a personalised LandRover.....it
must be fate!

I noticed from an earlier email that you're planning a trip to
Scotland. (my home country!) Where are you planning to go? I should be
heading up at the beginning of August, so if you're in the area (ie
west coast - up to Glasgow and take a left)....

One thing...which route are you planning on taking? Surely the
motorway will be a bit stressful for both you and the Landy. Or are
you taking your time via the back roads? I've often thought about
taking mine home but what with the cost of fuel and the noise and
reliability of my Landy, I've not quite talked myself into it....

Best of luck!

Graeme

Thanks Richard, for your help. I reckon the 'A' could well be the
upturned V you mentioned. Maybe my Landy has had a more interesting
life than I thought - wonder how many times its been chucked out the
back of a Hercules!!

Still, I'll give the Musuem of Army Transport a call in a couple of
days once I can get all my details together. I don't know the
military registration number, I have no log book - all I have is the
chassis number (which is bit of a bugger really, but worth a try...!!)

I'll see if I can find anything else on the Landy which might give me
some clues - like bullet holes? It appears to have had a green/black
cammo paint job since day one unless the army/whoever have stripped it
down before re-spraying it. Yeah right!

Thanks again. I'll let you know how I get on...

Cheers,

Graeme

don't know off hand, but it was 2 numbers - 2 letters - 2 numbers (the
letters weren't GB!). I believe this is what post-war military
registration numbers look like. I've since looked in photos in books,
and all the UK examples appear to be of this format.

It will be late June/early July for 1 week, somewhere between Fort William
and Mallaig (forget the name, I'm not organising it!)

I've done Crawley <> Leeds a few times now. Can do it under 6 hours
with two stops. Usually I finish the trip with a minor fault (the most
spectacular being the grub screw on the gear stick - I managed Huntingdon
to Crawley in 4th gear, changing down once (to 2nd) for the Dartford Toll
booths!! The last time I did it, it was particularly noisy as the exhaust is
coming away from the manifold.
I was going to go upto Scotland over 2 days - perhaps picking people up on
the way. A stop in Leeds, would let me cut across to the M6 via
Wharfedale, Upper Airedale, + Ribblesdale & Dentdale if the weather's good!
(perhaps)

Hi! Can someone either confirm that the basic Kenlowe Fan (part number
327/12B according to the invoice, the actual fan is back at the house) works
for both 12 and 24 V systems? Or does anyone have the Kenlowe phone number?

I ordered a 24V fan from Paddocks about 10 days ago, and it finally arrived
yesterday (they were out of stock). The fan itself says 12V on it, but
everything is non-specific. I phoned Paddocks up (is it me, or are their lines
*always* engaged??), and they reckon its suitable for both 12V and 24V, but
to check with Kenlowe. Thinking I had their number with me (got June's
LRO here, and thought they'd have an advert - of course they don't!), I said
I would.

It did occur to me that the thermostat unit might work with both, but nowhere
does it say that. If I have to send it back (Paddock's said there would be
no problems with this), I'd like to know before the weekend. Hilfe Hilfe!

Cheers,

Richard

Subject: New UK Off-Road newspaper

This isn't a plug, just a piece of info that has come my way, in my capacity
as magazine editor for the East Midlands Off Road Club...

There is to be a new weekly off road tabloid called 'Global Off-Road', aimed
mainly at competition-minded off-roaders and clubs. It launches on May 17th,
and should be available from all newsagents. It is to carry trade and
classified ads, and event notices, information and results. The news
services/notices will be FREE to off-road clubs.

One of the founders of this venture is a guy called Steve Wells, who was
until recently editor of the Lincs Land Rover Club magazine. As far as I
know, he has contacted magazine editors of all the off-road clubs listed in
LRO, LRW etc.

Strikes me that it might be worth a look, even if only as a conduit for
second-hand spares.

To publicise your club's events, or to enquire about ads etc, contact Steve at:

23 Castlegate,
Berwick-upon-Tweed
Northumberland
TD15 1LF

Phone 07000 781356

They haven't got an email address yet, but if they intend being as
up-to-date as they say, they'd better get a move on...

There are two brackets (395586 & 395587) for attaching the upper mounting
point for the front seats on a 90. They fit between the B-post and the
junction of the side panel and the roof. I would think that they could also
be used for the 2nd row of seats in a 110. A glance through a LR 110 parts
catalogue would give you the best idea of how to do it, as well as all the
relavent part numbers.
