Does anyone know of a UK supplier of this stuff or a suitable plastic alternative. I would have thought a plastic extrusion would be available somewhere for something that could be adapted. When I put the Daih**su 2.8 diesel in my Rangey, it ran fine on a blast round the M25 so we took it to Scotland. Five people, a boot full to the roof of climbing kit and many, many, many hours later we made it. We had repeated problems with power loss/fuel starvation which I eventually traced to the 'fine gauze filter' in the fuel tank. The diesel was clogging it up and with the heavy load requiring more fuel it just couldn't cope. Don't know if yours is different but I'd check it out when you drop the tank (I left it off completely) Mel Mauger & Matthew Reeve wrote; >Blocked filter was the immediate cause, however, I'm currently waiting until the tank is low before >I drain and drop it to clean the whole thing out, including the fine gauze which is apparently over >the outlet pipe within the tank as I've had repetitive problems for a while now which may or not be >related. When I did the same thing on my 200tdi about 2 months ago I didn't have one of the spanners so I had to do it a different way: i.e. remove the sets holding the blades. You can then widger the fan cowling off. This means you can then get to the coupling nut with a standard spanner and remove it (remember it turns the wrong way!)<FontFamily><param>Courier</param><smaller>. <FontFamily><param>Arial</param><bigger>Alternatively get the correct spanner! I think it can be adapted but I haven't tried it myself yet. It comes in 4mm and 6mm width and also in double-channel. Peter. I have done it as follows: Take off the cowl (two nuts) Unscrew the large nut holding the unit to the water pump spindle, anti-clockwise, using the LR special tool - an open-ended spanner with a step in it. I found I didn't need to hold the pulley - fit the spanner and give it a whack and the nut should come loose. That's it. If I remember right, IF you entitled to have it in the first place, you can take up to 5 lbs of explosives on public transport! I forget how many detonators but could look it up. In a previous (civvy) life we used to keep a couple of pounds in a drawer in our Bedford RL recording truck for blowing holes in the ground to drive Landies into to act as anchors for winching. Had a detonator harness that plugged into a brake light instead of a bulb. (So that you sat in the cab when it went bang and all the cr*p fell on the roof, not you!) Incidentally our LR S3 dynamite trucks had EVERY electrical item individually fused! What a nightmare.
