Article in the august LRO says a bare engine weighs ~260kg.
Recommends 500kg tackle for an engine swap.

 Hi all,

This here FFR-owner is planning to come over to Billing and Beltring
this summer (50 years military LR!), with his sheila.
As I've been in different places but never in UK, and desire to have
some sort of vacation / green laning, LR-parts finding etc.,
got no clue whatsoever where to go. Suggestions welcome!!
Also concearning lodging, as a tent is not an option.
Starting point will be Dover, I expect.
Anyone got a list of places that have L.P.G. ?
Eggs and bacon for breakfast or just weetabix nowadays?

 Thank you,

 Marijn.

I think you need to have an explosives licence from the plod first!...
That then states what you can or cannot have.

Black Powder shooters have to have them, just for plain old black
powder!...(and a firearms certificate as well!)

Subject: Running Problem

Ok,

I've got a 1964 2a 2.25 petrol. It starts and tick over fine and once
moving it runs ok, but when you first accelerate from rest it coughs
runs rough and then the revs pick up.

I suspect the Zenith card, mainly 'cos I can't find any other fault,
does this sound like it might be the culprit.

What do I replace it with, a new zenith a weber, or does anyone have a
suitable carb in good nick I could buy from them for a few quid.

Cheers......

Ran a rifle range for a time (U.S. Army). Requirement for the soldiers to
have a cleaning rod run down the bore of the weapon causing the bolt to go
home on an empty chamber. At the same time the soldier is supposed to sound
off with "No brass or ammo, Sir." One of my NCOs was "rodding the weapons"
and all was going well when a well developed female soldier presented herself,
had the weapon rodded, and sounded off with "NO ASS, NO BRAMMO, SIR".
Needless to say, that in the days before PC, the NCO responded with a comment
to the effect that it didn't look that way to him.

I have to admit that it was an idea originally mooted by a gaggle of us on
Cix who planned to meet at Sodbury. One guy actually found an 8-inch
floppy to wear.

I can't resist chipping in here and asking if it was a single or double
sided 8 inch floppy. Some of us Defender drivers may now know very much
about older LR's, but we sure know about floppy drives and punch cards :-)

Couldn't we wear a punched tape as identification? If so should it be 5,6,7
or 8 bit punching? (Mind you the price of hard disks these days, it could
just as well be a 12.7 GB Quantum (latest price offer is £143)).

Yes they do, but try them as just a wall decoration. The way they catch the
lights and show such *wonderful* colours, man. Could save you a fortune in
strange smokable things.

Mick. over here we get stainless from marine (boating) supply shops. They
carry all kinds of stuff for small boats, cabin crusiers, etc. Maybe the
same businesses over there have the same stuff.

Subject: Clutch Problem

Dear fellows,

I very appreciate to anyone who can advice me for my SIII 1974 clutch
problem. I was in steering and brakes reconditioning, then I was not caring
about my clutch for about 2.5 months not in use.

When I finished with my steering and brakes, I realize that my clutch could
not work properly even though I have kicked down-deep the pedal repeatedly
its still too hard to enggage to the 1st gear,
neither the rest.

I was very confused with the system, I have treated the top and below
master, but it still does not work well. Does my clutch possible glued to
the flywheel and make it won't move vice-versa ? Or is there anything else
that could make the clutch won"t move easily afterwards ?

Thanks to all. Best of luck.

Yes but dont worry this is a temporary condition.

Ask a friend to tow you up and down the road (your car in gear) while you
sit in the drivers seat pushing the clutch pedal up and down until it
becomes free again.

Sometimes you are lucky, it only takes one or two minutes - other times
you must do it for longer.
