Subject: Drain plugs & Rocker cover gasket

I haven't started yet to do some jobs in my new LR, but next week-end
I'm
thinking in changing engine oil and the rocker cover gasket.

Reading the owner's manual regarding oil changes, I've got the
impression
that I must change the drain plug of the engine sump (as other oil drain
plugs). Is the true or is this avoidable?

One other thing I'll do is to change the rocker cover gasket. It's
cracked
and the engine is loosing some oil that way. The Haynes manual doesn't
clearly explain if I must use any jointing compound and as it's a first
time job for me I'm unsure how to do it.

Last thing: what's the best way to clean the engine from oil? Petrol?

Subject: fees for entering an event?

Hi All,

I am curious about how much the fee is for the various LR competitive
events in the UK such as the Welsh HillRally, Bulldog, Webster, etc.

The reason I am asking is there is an outfit in Florida here in the states
running a so called competition and they are charging $400 (call it 250
quid) per vehicle. I can understand insurance and site prep being costly
but this strikes me as being kind of high.

Opinions?

John

The Eclipse is visible from everywhere in the UK....Its just the further
north you go the less eclipse you get.

Its only the very south of Cornwall that will see the "totallity" ie the
corona and funny flaming bits, and ther is only a 40% chance of seeing that
due to the crappy summer weather we have.

as far north as Edinburgh you will see as much as 80% eclipse..

Best Regards

Geoff

On most cars it is just a cork gasket not jointing compound but I too have
never had one off a LR

Subject: Artic Landrovers

Hi

I have some questions

1. Does anyone have a picture of a LR "arctic heater". Usually found in
Lightweights and other military LR beasts operating in, well, artic
conditions!

2. Is there a set pattern for "artic tiger" camouflage?

3. er... I forget.. I'll get back to you on that one...

Cheers
