It's green (of course) 1986 D-reg 2.5 TD 69000 miles (about 7000 mi on new engine) new alternator new clutch new starter injector pump -- rebuilt Windows and benches in the back Any idea what the going rate for a 90 like this is? All this talk of funny noises, my Ex-MOD 109" makes a lot of noise when you change down a gear - with the clutch down and the brake on to slow up, you get a heck of a vibration from the rear (the back of the LR - not the middle, not the front, the BACK!) - made worse due to NO sound proofing! (Happens without the brake too BTW!) - is this just normal or have I got a problem...the diff is full of oil and it is the right colour, the drive shaft seems stable too....There is no EXTRA noise when accelerating or driving normally - odd eh? Plus I now have a high pitched squeal - I guess it's the fan belt (I hope) - any suggestions on quietening this squeal (I've heard talcum powder works - but I suspect the neighbours will point and laugh and call my Landy a girly car if she smells nice!!! ;-)............). Oh, it has a rear Salisbury BTW! Neil 1978 SIII 109" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ <- Message 3 -> | Table of Contents | <- Digest 990401 -> | Search Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

My beloved enjoys watching Ground Force, I do too but I seem to see different things than she does. Anyway young Titmarsh and his mates did a garden with gravel instead of a lawn so my Easter weekend looks like being spent with a spade in my hand digging up grass and spreading gravel. I do hope to find the odd hour to play with the back garden ornament, its been there a year now and still hasn't grown any ... Take them off and replace them, as you will only have to do it again. A repair like that will not last long. The seals will be shot (from the rusty balls) And the bodge will eventually bugger th new seals. Bite the bullet, and do the job properly first time, and change the hub seals and inner ones as well... then its complete and will last a good while. From: GMBubb@aol.com Date: Wed, 31 Mar 1999 13:12:33 EST Subject: Renovating Swivels I've done this successfully using Devcon ceramic epoxy putty. It's a bit expensive, but nothing like new swivels! It's also the very devil to sand down to the right profile after it's set. I picked the ceramic one (from the RS catalogue) as it seemed to be the epoxy that was impervious to most things. The titanium loaded one might do the job as well. Mine's been on the road for 3 years now with no problem.
