I'm afraid it's had to go back now as I just picked up my LR this morning. No fix for the excessive oil-consumption problem I've been getting since new, and mucho sparks flying between me and Land Rover Ltd. on the phone today :-) Glad you've heard about Discovery. The good news, given the way your import tariffs are arranged, is that a 4-door version is rumoured for some time next year. 109 Engine Swap: I certainly agree with Mike in York. The Ford 2.6 or 3.0 litre V6 engine swap is highly rated in this country, and easier to do than a V8 because there's no cutting and welding of the chassis etc. I think Jake Wright (the company specializing in this conversion), has the slogan "120 Horsepower on Nuts and Bolts!". Sorry I know nothing about Generator/Alternator swaps. My '66 88" had a generator (positive earth), and always felt it was too much hassle to swap to negative earth in order to put an alternator on. I had too many bits of electronics and motors to think about... Simon.
