In the front of my Rover workshop manual they list the series numbers of
engine and chasis for all the various series, broken down by type, manufacture,
destination, etc.  If you know the engine/chassis number I could look it up
if you like, assuming you don't have the same manual I have :-).  This could
give some clues as to origin.
