Re overdrives, what is the word on the high-ratio conversion for the transfer box? Pros, Cons? I use my SIII 109 2.25 as a daily driver, a lot of miles on the freeway. Also, anybody know anyone in Australia offering parts/conversions? From what I have heard it sounds like a good idea, but since the overdrives seem more popular despite their faults, there must be a downside I haven't heard about. 2. Will be writing a conclusion to my gearbox problems which might be of interest to those who have seen my earlier questions. I have done a post mortem and plan to reassemble tomorrow. 3. All a matter of perspective. The worst drivers I ever encountered were in Saudi around Riyadh. Did see lots of old style T*yota Land Cruisers that looked in excellent shape while there. It runs flawlessly, has minor leak at the front cover but a new rear mainseal. The oil pump is right in the middle of spec (50 psi at 2K). Why am I selling it? simple. I rebuilt a motor (originally for my son's LR) and decided to put it in the Brick when the other project didn't happen (Son wants a truck to tow his horse trailer and wants an automatic). It ran great when it came out. I'm not inclined to keep it as a spare, 'cuz I don't need a good running engine sitting for years (seals, gaskets, valve springs etc don't take kindly to that sort of treatment). I figure someone may be looking for a SII engine in good nick to replace an ailing one in an effort to maintain originality. Many Hillman and Commer models were sold in the US as Sunbeams. BUT the Harrington is NOT a Hillman or Commer. LR content? Subject: Valentines' Day
At this time of romance and "lurve" I thought I'd be a humbug:
Bill and Tanya MacAuley from South Africa failed in their visit to a
marriage counsellor to patch things up. On his arrest after Mrs MacAuley was
taken to hospital with severe concussion, a broken collarbone and three
fractured ribs, the counsellor, Dr Cedric Wayne, called her "The most
annoying woman I have ever met."
In Stuttgart, Germany, Elsa Brammer was forced to endure eight days of
serious medical attention on her jaw after it locked while she was screaming
at her husband about watching too much football.
In Austria, Josef Hartman told his wife he'd drive into the river if she
didn't stop nagging. She didn't, he did.
The car is a write off and Mr Hartman has been charged with polluting the
River Danube.
In Geissen, Germany, Rolf Briemer divorced his wife for noisily crunching
celery whenever they had sex.
Andrea Puymartin from Lyon, France, divorced her husband, Yves, for "wanging
her bra strap" whenever they went shopping.
In New Zealand, Gregory Kinoshi (101) has filed for divorce from wife Tessa
(96) because she has lost interest in sex. Mr Kinoshi said: "It's not fair,
a man has needs"
A wedding in Crete was "postponed indefinitely" after the bride-to-be took
some friends home to see her wedding dress. Not only did they find the groom
wearing it, but he was locked in a passionate embrace with the best man at
the time.
In Acapulco, Luis Lopez pawned his wife Cheyne. He complained that she was
worth at least £100 rather than the £45 he got for her.
At least the following can save money on the Valentines cards, animals can't
read........
In Verona, Italy a man and his cat are being treated for CJD, Since the
strain hasn't been found in cats before, the authorities suspect that the
man passed it on.......
In New Dheli Mr Dharamvar has been charged with pleasuring his friend's
buffalo.
In Oxfordshire, England (a long, long way from Lancashire, may I point out)
farmers apprehended a naked 16 years old boy trying to make a pair of "made
to measure" woolly trousers. Nothing wrong with that, except that the
trousers were still bleating.
In Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Martin Hoyle has been jailed for a year
after being caught having sex with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier by the
roadside.
"The dog raped me" claimed Hoyle in court, "I can't help it if it took a
liking to me."
Best Cheers
