The conversion was done about 2 years ago. It's NOT the TDi engine, however, I have heard that the older 2.5 TD's gave a lot of trouble namely the Falcon ? engine. Is there any easy means of determining wether this motor is one of those dreaded diesels. I am not a fundi on diesels so please keep it simple... Thank you in advance!! The conversion was done about 2 years ago. It's NOT As far as I know, the South African IIIS was a local job, based on Stage I running gear (hence the 110 gearbox) but had an Atlantis diesel fitted. Id this is the case, you'll find a copy of a Perkins engine (I think), long nose (a'la 110). If the engine has a Lucas/CAV DPS injection pump driven off the cam timing chain and no intercooler, chances are that it's a Land Rover 2.5TD, which has a reputation for warping heads, short service life, etc. If it has an intercooler between the turbo & the inlet manifold, it's a Tdi. I have been told by Greg at TransQuatro that they must be avoided like the plague. However he thinks that AAD modified some of them and those should be good engines. He suggests that you 'phone AAD to ask them. Arthur ------------------------------------- Name: Arthur Morgan F.F.A.(S.A.) All I can say is F(*^-ing A! So, if the owner is on the list, or someone knows where this landie lives, I would like to know. I'd like to look at it more closely, 'cause I would really like my landie to look like that one day... :-) Thanks all!
